Touring Sunnyside : Art of the Possible

There’s no question - we are very proud of our family-owned farm, Sunnyside! There is no shortage of history to the land, our community of Hillsborough, and the careful efforts made to ensure our customers can enjoy the uniqueness of it all! Since opening in September of 2021, we’ve welcomed many customers looking for the lovely sights, peaceful sounds, and nostalgic smells of our beautiful farm to host their big day. Our goal is to be considered amongst the premier outdoor wedding venues of North Carolina. Whether you’re looking in Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Durham, or outside the Research Triangle, we are here to support your vision in anyway we can. We’ve learned A LOT in that time! Most notably, how best to guide our customers on the “art of the possible” when it comes to fully utilizing the property for their specific needs. And, that all starts with a tour!

Below are considerations for prospecting couples, companies, and/or families to give thought to before you’ve scheduled your tour!

  1. The Pond

The Pond sits in a beautiful grass clearing in the heart of the venue as your enter the grounds. Adorned by a century old barn, canopied meadow, fountain statue, and waterfall features give this space a wonderfully calming overture to the celebrations ahead. Often, our customers dedicate this space to wandering guest looking for a nice space to visit, sip cocktails, and gather prior to the ceremony or meeting. Or, later, to give their dancing legs a break from the reception! Albeit, this area does a great job at just that, we encourage prospecting clients to also consider its use as a ceremony space, a meditation or small group area, or even backdrop for your special Quinceanera!

  2. The Orchard

The Orchard is a 7 acre plot of 100+ Chesnut trees on the northside of the property. The serenity is unparalleled on the property and a great location for ceremonies or cocktail hours! Its a short ~10 min walk through a wooded trail that can be adorned with special lamp lighting, decorations, or guest activities. We also provide cart transportation if there are guests unable or unwilling to manage the stroll! Talk to your tour host about how this area could potentially suite your needs!

  3. The Ceremony Circle

Undeniably our most popular primary/ceremony space, the Ceremony Circle was built for just that! Spring and Summer events will benefit from the lush green foliage, an overwhelming variety of wildflowers and blooming plants, and the sun dampening canopy of our large oak forest surrounding. Our Fall and early winter events will have the beauty of deciduous leaves changing from green to red, orange, and yellow with delightful temperatures for comfort and peace. If you’re looking at alternative areas, like the pond or orchard, for your ceremony, this area can now be considered for reception dancefloor, cocktail area, or our beloved Bride and Groom departing to their new life together!

  4. The Great Hall

What was once a large scale chicken house serving the great Orange County area in the early 20th century is now our Great Hall. Its immediate feel is dining, dancing, and sunbeams peering through the beautiful stained glass! However, it has wonderfully multi-use potential and is an excellent space for ceremony, dining, and reception should a “weather plan” be required due to rain or temperature. It has immediate access to the bridal suite, bar/cocktail area, and outdoor space for tent to keep guest dry and happy!
